It’s time you started prioritising yourself! It’s time you started making time for you! So, I’d love to invite you to join me for a beautiful 10 week ‘Sunday Self Care Challenge’. Each week will follow a theme, and have a self-care activity, a yoga pose to practice, an essential oil to diffuse and some journal prompts that all correlate and focus on our theme. Want to get started with Week One? – Sunday Self Care Challenge Week One
Today’s focus is creative expression and journaling!
And I am sooo excited for this theme because I am such a creative person at heart 🥰🧡 So let’s get into it Mumma!
Essential oil:
First things first, if you are following along with the essential oil side of things, then go and grab your Orange oil! We are wanting to create a beautiful uplifting, joyous, focused atmosphere that also promotes self love and creativity! So what better oil to choose than Orange. So get it in that diffuser girlfriend and do you know what, pop a single drop on your heart centre too, bring your hands to your chest, take a deep breath and really feel that love and joy take over you 🧡
Activity:
Today’s activity is totally up to you! What’s something creative that brings you the most joy? For those of you who have been following along for a while or know me, you’d know that I have a macrame business, so macrame is definitely one of my absolute love to lose myself completely in it craft’s 🧡 What’s yours? Maybe it’s drawing or painting, writing or crocheting, photography, dancing even? Dancing is so good for the soul and creative expression. Whatever you pick, make sure to block yourself absolute minimum of 30 minutes to work on this today, if you can go up to an hour, even better!!! Put some music on while you get creative and just lose yourself in the moment, get those creative juices flowing, Mumma.
Create what sets your soul on fire and let it illuminate the path ahead 🧡
Yoga Pose:
Next up our yoga pose for today is a Paschimottanasana or a Seated Forward Fold, do this after you’ve completed your chosen creative activity for the day, hopefully by now you’ll be full of self love and expression and be ready to dive deeper into oneself 🧡 Our seated forward fold gets us into an introverted position. Allowing our head to fold down towards our lower body can assist in calming the mind and reducing stress and anxiety.
Now forward folds arent all about how deep you can go into the pose but rather how deeply you can release. We dont force the body to go further than it allows us too, just go as far as is comfortable for you and feel free to bend the knees as much as possible (you want the chest to be in contact with the thighs) you will still feel the benefits either way. Forward folds are all about surrendering into the present moment.
Have a quick watch through the video and get yourself familiar with the details of the pose before you get started (or check my stories for a more detailed explaining of the pose) then come down to your mat to practice. Hold for as long as possible but make sure to keep your breath smooth and steady and while you are here, really focus on a feeling of joy and self love, letting it grow warm through your heart centre, smile to yourself, you’ve been on an incredible journey of self love and self care and I’m so proud of you, be proud of you too 🧡
Journal Prompts:
Now our final aspect of today’s pratice is our journal prompts. So once you are finished with your yoga pose of the day, come back to a comfortable seated position, grab yourself a diary or a notebook and this is what I want you to think about and write about today.
– What are three things you are grateful for today?
– Write about your creative process.
– How does it make you feel?
– What are three things you’ve learnt about yourself throughout this process today?
– How could you use it to get to know yourself better on a deeper level?
– Write out a positive affirmation for the day that aligns with how you are feeling right now. Get on Google or pinterest for some inspiration if you need it. Now sit and focus on this affirmation, even repeat it to yourself a few times!
Feel free to stay with this part of the day for longer if you can. Write whatever comes to mind, let it flow out, feel it, acknowledge it, release it.
