Sunday Self Care Challenge

Sunday Self Care Challenge – Week Three

It’s time you started prioritising yourself! It’s time you started making time for you! So, I’d love to invite you to join me for a beautiful 10 week ‘Sunday Self Care Challenge’. Each week will follow a theme, and have a self-care activity, a yoga pose to practice, an essential oil to diffuse and some journal prompts that all correlate and focus on our theme. This will be a chance for you to take those very first steps into setting up new routines that prioritise your own selfcare, mental health and wellbeing Mumma, so come and join me and let’s get started!

Want to get started with Week One? – Sunday Self Care Challenge Week One

Today’s focus is mindful movement and meditation.

Essential oil:

So once again first things first, if you are following along with the essential oil side of things, then go and grab your Frankincense oil! The incredible Frank! Get it in that diffuser and let it be the base of your activities today. We are using our favourite guy Frank to promote relaxation, reduce anxiety and increase spiritual awareness. This oil is a gamechanger during yoga!

Activity:

So onto today’s activity, today we are focusing on movement and meditation so here’s your options, you can just do one, or all of the above! You do what works best for you! Option one: Do a 10-15 minute meditation, you can have a look on YouTube for something guided or just allow yourself to sit or lay in stillness, hot tip: set a timer on your phone so you know how long it’s been. And if you are really vibing it then just go on past the timer. Option two: Take a nature walk. Self explanatory, get out there in Nature. Feel the sun, feel the air and enjoy the moment. Option three: Do a short yogaflow. Here a quick one I’ve thrown together for you to try.
Kneeling pose flow x 3
Lateral stretch x 2 each side
Simple Spinal Twist x 2 each side
Cat Cow x 3
Downward facing dog x 1 – hold and be with your breath
Forward fold x 1 – hold and be with your breath
Triangle pose x 1 each side
Extended side angle x 1 each side
Wide footed forward fold x 1 – hold and be with your breath
Bound angle pose – stay for 3 breaths
Reclining bound angle pose – stay for 5 breaths

See my stories for a quick example of these poses if you are unsure.

Yoga Pose:

Now our official yoga pose for today is Tree Pose or Vrksasana, do this after you’ve completed your chosen (or all, whatever floats your boat) activity for the day, you’ll be beautifully warmed up for it! Tree Pose is a balancing pose, and balancing poses are so good for calming the mind, when we are so focused on keeping ourselves balanced and steady, we are naturally drawing our focus into the body and into a one pointed focus where we allow everything else to drop away and we move fully into that present moment.

Have a quick watch through the video and get yourself familiar with the details of the pose before you get started (or check my stories for a more detailed explaining of the pose) then come down to your mat and practice this pose atleast once on each side of the body. Hold for as long as possible but make sure to keep your breath smooth and steady.

Journal Prompts:

Now our final aspect of today’s practice is our journal prompts. So once you are finished with your yoga pose of the day, come back to a comfortable seated position, grab yourself a diary or a notebook and this is what I want you to think about and write about today.

– Write about your experience today with movement and meditation and how did it make you feel?
– What are three things you are grateful for today?
– What are three things you are proud of yourself for?
– Write out a positive affirmation for the day that aligns with how you are feeling right now. Get on Google or pinterest for some inspiration if you need it. Now sit and focus on this affirmation, even repeat it to yourself a few times!

If you’ve joined along and completed week three with me today, then drop me a comment below and let me know, you could let us know how it’s made you feel or even just drop a 🧡 emoji. We are all here doing this together Mumma, so let’s really ride this journey out and support each other along the way 🧡 See you back here next Sunday for more!
