It’s time you started prioritising yourself! It’s time you started making time for you! So, I’d love to invite you to join me for a beautiful 10 week ‘Sunday Self Care Challenge’. Each week will follow a theme, and have a self-care activity, a yoga pose to practice, an essential oil to diffuse and some journal prompts that all correlate and focus on our theme. This will be a chance for you to take those very first steps into setting up new routines that prioritise your own selfcare, mental health and wellbeing Mumma, so come and join me and let’s get started!
Want to get started with Week One? – Sunday Self Care Challenge Week One
So today’s focus is Self Care for the Senses
Essential oil:
First things first, if you are following along with the essential oil side of things, then go and grab your Ylang Ylang oil! We are using Ylang Ylang today as our base to help promote feelings of calmness and joy. So get it in that diffuser girlfriend and lets get some selfcare in 🧡
Activity:
So selfcare for the senses. This is what we are going to do, we are going to indulge in some self care activities that really nourish all of our different senses, Mumma. You can either do one activity to and try and hit all the senses, eg. think taking a nice warm bath for feeling, add some scented bathsalts for your sense of smell, add some mindful music for your sense of hearing, maybe a herbal tea for your sense of taste, and maybe you read a book for seeing OR choose a selfcare activity for each of the senses, so maybe you go outside and take your shoes off in the grass for a feeling/grounding activity. Then maybe you do a short visualisation guided meditation for seeing, or make a beautiful platter and have a glass of wine for your sense of taste. Maybe you listen to your favourite album or an audiobook for hearing, and of course you have your diffuser going with your Ylang Ylang oil for your sense of smell. What else can you think of Mumma? Plan out your selfcare for the day at a time that suits you and make sure you fit it in! You deserve it 👏
Yoga Pose:
Next up our yoga pose for today is Bidalasana or Cat Cow. The perfect pose for connecting our movement to our breath and switching on that parasympathetic nervous system, our rest and digest function. Cat Cow is also great for getting that movement through the spine to ease the back and shoulders and help bring balance to your body and it also gets that blood and lymphatic fluids moving through the lower torso to improve circulation.
So its up to you whether you want to do your yoga pose before or after your self care for the senses activity today. But whenever you are ready then have a quick watch through the video and get yourself familiar with the details of the pose before you get started (or check my stories for a more detailed explaining of the pose) then come down to your mat to practice.
Journal Prompts:
Now our final aspect of today’s practice is our journal prompts. So once you are finished with your yoga pose of the day, come back to a comfortable seated position, grab yourself a diary or a notebook and this is what I want you to think about and write about today.
– What are three things you are grateful for today?
– Write about your favourite self care activity for each of the senses and the differences in how each activity made you feel/affected your wellbeing.
– What are three things you’ve learnt about yourself throughout this process today? Is there a certain activity that just really hits that selfcare relaxation better for you then the others? How can you incorporate this into your lifestyle more?
– Write out a positive affirmation for the day that aligns with how you are feeling right now. Get on Google or pinterest for some inspiration if you need it. Now sit and focus on this affirmation, even repeat it to yourself a few times!
I hope you’ve enjoyed joining along and completing week six with me today, what was your favourite part of this week’s challenge? Now throw your favourite selfcare ideas in the comments so we can all bounce ideas off each other 🧡
And see you back here next Sunday for more, Mumma!
