Sunday Self Care Challenge – Week Nine

It’s time you started prioritising yourself! It’s time you started making time for you! So, I’d love to invite you to join me for a beautiful 10 week ‘Sunday Self Care Challenge’. Each week will follow a theme, and have a self-care activity, a yoga pose to practice, an essential oil to diffuse and some journal prompts that all correlate and focus on our theme. This will be a chance for you to take those very first steps into setting up new routines that prioritise your own selfcare, mental health and wellbeing Mumma, so come and join me and let’s get started!

Today’s focus is Nutrition and Hydration

Essential oil:

First things first, if you are following along with the essential oil side of things, then go and grab your Peppermint oil, ladies! We are using Peppermint today alongside our Nutrition themed day because Peppermint is an incredible oil for all things tummy and digestion, but not only that, its great for motivation and focus! So chuck it in that Diffuser, Mumma and lets get going 🧡

Activity:

So with our focus today being Nutrition and Hydration, our plan is going to be to really focus for this next week on nourishing our bodies with healthy foods and drinking our two litres of water a day. So if you’re a planner like me, maybe you want to take a little time today to work on a bit of a food plan, shopping list and menu for the week, or maybe you just want to wing it and give it your best. That’s totally up to you! If you like you could even keep a food journal over the week, sometimes when we write down exactly what we are eating, it brings more attention to the areas in which we could be making slight changes.

And here’s an added option, if you like this week you might choose to continue on with your writing down 3 things that you are grateful for everyday of the week, aswell as maybe you start to incorporate a little daily skincare routine into your evening each day 🧡 It’s time to start taking all the little bits and pieces that we’ve learnt throughout this challenge and start adding them together into our daily life!

Yoga Pose:

Next up our yoga pose for today is a Simple Seated Twist.
Now, this pose is great for promoting digestion (hello Nutrition theme 👏) and blood circulation, as well as stimulating and enhancing the function of the organs. But it’s also beautiful for stretching and strengthening through the upper body, the shoulders, spine, and hips.

So whenever you are ready, have a quick watch through the video and get yourself familiar with the details of the pose before you get started (or check my stories for a more detailed explaining of the pose) then come down to your mat to practice.

Journal Prompts:

Now our final aspect of today’s pratice is our journal prompts. So once you are finished with your yoga pose of the day, come back to a comfortable seated position, grab yourself a diary or a notebook and this is what I want you to think about and write about today.

– What are three things you are grateful for today?
– Write about your relationship with food and water.
– Do you eat mainly for flavour or do you eat for nourishment, to give back to your body and to help your feel your best?
– Is there anywhere that you could improve? Spend some time to make a plan.
– Write out a positive affirmation for the day that aligns with how you are feeling right now. Get on Google or pinterest for some inspiration if you need it. Now sit and focus on this affirmation, even repeat it to yourself a few times!
