Stroke Survivor

Hi, I’m Sami.

I’m a wife, mum of two, yoga teacher, creative soul, book lover, and stroke survivor.

Before my stroke, I had been teaching yoga at a studio for seven weeks while also sharing classes from home. I was living my dream.

Then, on 22 May 2025, everything changed.

I collapsed.

An ambulance rushed me to hospital. Everything became a whirlwind. I spent almost four days in a coma. I underwent a craniotomy, and when I woke up, I had to begin again.

I had lost my words because of aphasia. My right side was weak. Every day became speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physiotherapy. Later came a cranioplasty, seizures, setbacks, pain, exhaustion, and countless challenges.

Doctors later discovered I had a Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO)—a small hole in my heart that may have allowed a blood clot to travel to my brain and cause my ischemic stroke.

Recovery has been the hardest journey of my life, but it has also been the most transformative.

Yoga and meditation became my anchors. They helped me reconnect with my body, quiet my mind, and trust that healing doesn’t happen all at once—it happens one breath, one moment, and one step at a time.

Mindfully Living Yoga has grown into something much bigger than teaching yoga. It is a space for healing, hope, mindfulness, self-compassion, and resilience. A place where people are welcomed exactly as they are.

Today, I continue rebuilding my life while sharing my recovery openly. My scar tells a story of survival. My journey reminds me that strength isn’t about never falling—it’s about choosing to rise again.

I almost didn’t survive.

But I did.

Whether you’ve found this page because of yoga, stroke recovery, aphasia, self-care, or you’re simply searching for hope, I’m so glad you’re here.

Thank you for being part of my journey.

Still healing. Still growing. Still rising.

Healing happens one breath, one moment, and one step at a time.
